Educational Outreach

Debra Classen is an artist and retreat conference presenter. The Mute Swan Ministry grew out of her spiritual seeking for hope and healing in her own life, “I want to help people discover the sacred in ordinary events, even times of trial and loss. God is always present, consoling, healing, and encouraging us through the call of beauty.”-Debra

Debra Classen has presented to numerous parishes, civic, and religious communities, facilitating retreats, study groups, and workshops.

Debra Classen

was born and raised in California, but now lives in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  Debra is an artist, author, and retreat conference presenter. As the Executive Director of the Ministry, Debra has facilitated retreats in the U.S., presented to the International Merton Society, Cleveland Chapter as well as numerous parishes and religious, educational and civic communities in Ohio, Kentucky, Texas and California. Her education includes several degrees from a B.A. in General Studies from Kent State University to 2 masters, one in Counseling from John Carroll University and another in Theology, with a focus on Theological Aesthetics, from St. Mary's Graduate school of Theology.
